Being an Explorer
Explorers is the fifth Section in Scouting, for children aged 14-18. As a Scout, you’ll get the chance to try a range of exciting activities and go on new adventures. Here’s everything you need to know.
What do Explorers do?
With the support, direction and guidance of Unit leaders, you’ll be encouraged to lead yourselves, design your own programme and work towards the top awards that Scouting offers. With exciting prospects like being a part of camps and expeditions both home and abroad; adventurous activities such as mountaineering, parascending and off shore sailing; Explorers offers fun and adventure for all.
Earning Awards
Explorers have the ability to complete three of the Scoutings top awards, the Chief Scout’s Platinum and Diamond Award as well as the King’s Scout Award. Talk to your Explorer Leader to learn more about completing your top awards.
Scouts Promise
As a values based movement we all make the ‘The Promise’ an oath that helps us to be our best.
Uniform and badge placement
After you join Scouts you will wear a uniform that lets you display all of your badges. Learn about our uniform and where to put your badges below.
Moving on to Network
When you turn 18 you can continue to be involved in Scouting as part of the Network, or get involved as a volunteer.
